On Feb. 16, 2020 at approximately 10 p.m., Cold Lake RCMP responded to multiple break and enter calls in the downtown area of Cold Lake.

On Feb. 17, officers received a tip from an anonymous bystander whom observed a suspicious male in dark clothing entering a residence. Officers attended the said residence and noted footprints in the snow which matched footprints seen at the previous break and enters.  The suspect had fled the residence, however members noticed the suspect hiding behind a telephone pole. As soon as the suspect noted the police had seen him, he jumped a fence and took off on foot.

Cold Lake Police Dog Service (PDS) was called to assist in tracking the suspect.  PDS tracked the suspect to a back yard and found him in a shed on 53rd Avenue.  The suspect resisted arrest.  Officers managed to gain control of 25-year-old Nathan Boissoneau who sustained a minor dog bite injury.

Boissoneau was arrested for the following:

  • Break & Enter with Intent  (2)
  • Resist-Obstruct Peace Officer (2)

Boissoneau was scheduled to appear in Cold Lake Proivincial Court on Feb. 26, 2020.

“This is a great example of why we want the public to report suspicious activity,” says RCMP Sergeant Ryan Howrish. “One person thinking something did not look right and calling the police, led to us making this arrest and solving this investigation in a timely manner.”
